10-DAY COLOMBIA SAMPLE ITINERARY DETAILS
Arrive into the Bogota metropolis, and private transfer to your gorgeous hotel in the heart of the city (Four Seasons Hotel Casa Medina Bogota). After settling in, this evening you’ll be taken out by a local expert for your first taste of the city’s cutting-edge culinary scene, followed by cocktails at the counter of a young mixology specialist.
This morning you’ll head out with an insightful private guide to explore the historic La Candelaria neighborhood. Bogota’s most historic and colorful neighborhood, La Candelaria is full of charming streets and beautiful colonial architecture. As you stroll, you’ll sample fresh-baked local pastries including pan de bono, before heading high above the city to get a stunning view over the capital and surrounding mountains.
Colombian cuisine is surprisingly eclectic (not to mention delicious), and when you see the incredible bounty on offer at the markets, you’ll see why! This morning you’ll be led on a private tour of one of the city’s most vibrant markets, while selecting fresh ingredients for a private cooking class with a local chef. After a delicious lunch (and optional siesta), start the evening early, indulging in tejo (the lively national game) over Aguilas (the local beer).
This morning you’ll have a private transfer to the airport for your morning flight to Cartagena. On arrival in the historic colonial city of Cartagena, you’ll have a private transfer to your hotel. After some time on your own to explore the cobblestone streets of the old city and settle into your luxurious hotel, located within the walled city (Casa San Agustin), head out on a private walking tour of Cartagena’s fascinating and vibrant Old City, and up-and-coming Getsemani neighborhood. You can then choose to relax by the pool, or chill out in an Old City plaza, before sampling more of Cartagena’s incredible cuisine (and nightlife).
Day trip to the crystal-clear Caribbean waters of the Rosario Islands. You’ll travel by speedboat to the beach of a small island for a day of fun and relaxation. Lounge by the beach and enjoy a traditional Caribbean seafood lunch (along with cold, tropical drinks)!
A free day to continue enjoying and exploring Cartagena. Options include a private architecture tour with a local expert, a private street-food adventure, and private dance lessons (learn the local dance, champeta, or the national dances of salsa and cumbia). Spend the afternoon cooling off in your hotel pool, before meeting up with an expert local guide to explore Cartagena’s vibrant nightlife and cuisine.
Today you’ll leave the coast for the mountains. After one last morning in the Caribbean, you’ll have a private transfer to the airport for your direct flight to Medellín. Private transfer to your hotel in the heart of Medellín’s lively El Poblado neighborhood (The Charlee Hotel). Spend the afternoon exploring Medellín’s trendy streets, filled with great coffee, food, and unique boutiques.
After coffee at a trendsetting cafe that sources beans from small growers throughout Colombia, embark on a private tour that dramatically demonstrates Medellin’s incredible transformation over the past decade. Sample authentic Colombian dishes, including bandeja paisa, along the way.
Full day trip into the beautiful, rural countryside, to the colorful town of Guatape. The majestic Peñól de Guatape is surrounded by lakes in every direction. Explore the lake district by boat, and enjoy a delicious lunch with stunning scenery. If you’re feeling adventurous, climb the mammoth rock for sweeping views of this lake district!
